Credit Analyst

 

Obra Institutional Credit is seeking a Credit Analyst to join our team located in Montpelier. This position will be responsible for supporting the Senior Credit team that conducts research into high yield corporate debt across a variety of industries. Day to day will include researching and analyzing high yield credit investments, providing credit ratings and recommendations, as well as monitoring and reporting on credit markets for our institutional and private clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior credit analysts in conducting comprehensive market research across diverse sectors to underpin investment recommendations.

  • Core aspects of this analysis include, but are not limited to, industry assessment, review of company financial reports, analysis of earnings and news releases, and development of frameworks for relative value analysis within and between industry sectors.

  • Collect, monitor, and systematize information crucial for the credit investment decision-making process.

  • Assist in the financial modelling and valuation process.

  • Deliver concise verbal and written summaries of pertinent information.

  • Take a leading role in overseeing crucial data inputs essential to the process.

  • Create oral and written analyses and summaries for other credit analysts and key stakeholders as required.

  • Keep internal and external data sources updated and well-maintained.

  • Undertake ad hoc projects, analyses, and other forms of support for relevant stakeholders as needed

  • Prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders.   Develop and maintain strong ties with sell-side, buy-side advisors lawyers and other industry professionals.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 1 year of direct experience or relevant internship experience in credit research, working as an analyst or associate at one of the top investment banks, private equity firms, and/or a comparable role at another firm investing in broadly syndicated leveraged loans. Recent graduates with relevant internship experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor's (B.A. / B.S.) degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field is a requirement, with minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • A Master's degree in similar fields is highly valued.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective presentation abilities.

  • Self-driven, capable of working independently in a dynamic environment while also collaborating within a team.

  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines independently.
